Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

About

Pre-professional is a category for students considering a professional school after graduating with a bachelor’s degree.  Unlike graduate school programs, which focus on advanced coursework in one particular field of study, professional school programs are designed to train a student for a specific career and require a state or national licensure exam (the Bar Exam for lawyers, Medical Licensing Exam for doctors, etc.)

  • Pre-health for students interested in dentistry, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, and veterinary medicine
  • Pre-law for students who want to become lawyers

At Ohio State, "pre-health" and "pre-law" are not majors. They are officially-recognized areas of academic interest that enable your academic advisor and your pre-professional advisor to provide you with a wide range of support to realize your goals.
