Researching Law Schools
It is important to research which law schools you want to attend. During or immediately following your junior year, you should begin to evaluate law schools by reading The Official Guide to US Law Schools and reviewing the LSAC website @ LSAC.ORG. The Law School Expo, held every autumn, is an excellent opportunity to get information about law schools and talk directly to representatives from the schools.
Here are a few considerations for this process:
- Accreditation (AALS, ABA)
- Faculty (J.D., L.L.M., J.S.D.)
- Reputation (Be careful here! There are many great law schools)
- Student Body
- Curriculum
- Location/Geographic
- Consider the size of the entering class (Most are from 120-220 but, some are as large at 600)
- Dual Degree Programs
- Bar Passage Rate
- Job Placement
