Preparing For and Taking the LSAT
The LSAT measures analytical ability, reading comprehension, and logical reasoning. The test is intended to predict performance in law school, and long experience with it has validated that assumption and tested its reliability. It is required by every ABA approved law school in the country. Click here to see a list of ABA approved law schools. Begin to prepare for the LSAT as least a quarter in advance of the test date. Remember that law schools want students who can organize, analyze, draw conclusions, and communicate ideas. The test is reportable from two to three years or longer, depending on the individual law school, but in not case will a score more than five years old be reported.
The LSAT is offered four times each year: June, September (or October), December and February. OSU administers the LSAT; other test administration sites are listed in the LSAT/LSDAS Registration and Information Book. The optimum time for taking the test is June of your Junior year. This test date gives you time to assess your chances for admission at a given school and allows time for a re-take if necessary.
